Santa Ana Aztecs lost 5-2 on their visit to Newport's Region 97 in a game played on Saturday
morning at Kaiser Field. A determined and very well organized Aztecs pressed up on Newport's defense
and made it difficult for the hosts to open the scoring, but the two Actecs goals were not enough and the
strong opponent's hard work gave them victory.
The Aztecs squad held Whittier's team to a goalless score during good part of the game, but conceded two goals in
and were unable to grab a point in their 4th match of the season played on Saturday at Whittier. Our team worked hard
and had many opportunities to open the scoring, but a couple of distractions cost them the victory. Santa Ana Aztecs
landed on 3rd place of their group with 25 points.
This week they will get ready to face the strong Newport team on Saturday.
Last night, under very cold weather, the Aztecs squad faced a strong opponent on Region 143's team. It was with a
solitary goal on the second half that our boys earn the victory.
The Aztecs squad will have a friendly match on Saturday and they will practice Monday at McFadden for their next official match on
Wednesday, this time at Centennial park, our home field.
The Aztecs squad warmed up for their first game at Los Alamitos. This week they will train to face
Westminster/Huntington Beach on Wednesday.

On Saturday morning, Santa Ana Aztecs clashed with the Region 159 Team and ran out convincing 2-5 winners. On
the first half Region 159 scored twice but during the second half our team took the lead. With great team work
and effort, Fernando sent the ball to the net 4 times and David V. did it once to secure the victory and their
first 9 points on the season.
The Aztecs squad will practice Monday at McFadden for their next match on Wednesday.
The team earned a 1-1 draw on their first pre-season game. They played last night at The Santa Ana Bowl.
The other team went ahead during the first half but Cesar levelled the score after a corner kick sent by
David V during the second half, this way the game ended up in a 1-1 draw.
With a few absences, the Aztecs squad began training at the Centennial Park Field last night for the upcoming season.
